You can import and register a Harley Davidson Motorcycle to all Australian states.

Pre 1989 Harley Davidson Motorcycles, as with any pre 89 vehicle you will only require an import approval issued by the Department of Infrastructure in Canberra. You will need a bill of sale, a copy of the bikes title and a recent photo of the bike.

Harley Davidson’s built after 1988 will also require an approval to import, this is issued through a RAWS provider. (Registered Automotive Workshop Scheme). Baltons Muscle & Classic can assist with this procedure. We will need the bikes build date, a photo of the VIN & the VIN plate or decal. Compliance includes: Import Approval, tyres, new brake pads, brake fluid, new headlamps, new reflectors, km/h speedo & Compliance plate fitted.

What does it cost to comply my Harley?
The cost to comply starts from $2,500, V-Rods from $2,950, Rockers from $4,000. Add an additional $500 to these prices for Screaming Eagle models. Based on the motorcycle being classed as "standard".
Compliance for modified or non-standard motorcycles will incur additional costs.
All parts that are removed will returned to you.
 

What will it cost to import my Harley Davidson?
Baltons offer a fixed shipping rate of AUD$995.00 per bike from our Los Angeles, Southern California warehouse facility. This includes secure crate & packing / unpacking of your bike, all documentation required in the USA and Australia. Customs and Quarantine documents and inspection, all wharf & sea freight fees & cartage to the Australian workshop for compliance. Currently all compliance work is done in our Melbourne facility.

Are there Taxes & Duty on the Harleys?
Bikes over 30 Years Old - You need to allow 10% of the value of your bike for GST. This is levied by Customs at the time of arrival. As a rule It is based on the purchase price of the bike converted to Australian dollars.

e.g. Bike cost USD$5,000, exchange rate of .95c = AUD Value $5265.00 - GST = AUD$526.50

Bikes less than 30 Years Old - You need to allow 10% of the value of your bike for GST, These charges are levied by Customs at the time of arrival. As a rule they are based on the purchase price of the bike converted to Australian dollars.

Australian Customs will require ducumentation to verify the amount you paid for your bike. You will need to provide customs with both a receipt or Bill of Sale AND proof of payment such as a copy of your bank transfer, creditcard or Paypal receipt to the seller.

Can I get the bike Im interested in inspected?
Yes, Baltons can arrange for a comprehensive inspection of the bike your interested in buying. We can arrange inspections in all parts of Mainland USA (Excluding Alaska). Cost is dependant on location and is between AUD$250 & AUD$400 per bike. Think of it as cheap insurance!

Inland Transport - Anywhere in the USA
We have arrangements with a number of motorcycle specific transporters in the United States. We can move any bike from any town to our Los Angeles depot. All transporters are enclosed and fully insured. Cost is depandant on the location of pick up.

What port in the USA will my new Harley Davidson Ship from?
We ship most bikes out of the port of Long Beach, this is situated in Los Angeles, Southern California. (the West Coast) We prefer to use our own secure depot and loading team. All east coast shipping (i.e. New York etc) to Australia is done by contract warehouse's & loaders and the shipping time takes a lot longer
